LEARN TO SEW 1

We believe sewing is magical, empowering, & rewarding!

This class is for kids and tweens aged 9-14.

Sewing is not only a life skill, it allows you to exercise fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, spacial awareness, focus, and problem solving skills. Also there is no confidence boost like seeing what you are capable of creating!

Students will learn the basics of fabric, tools, machine operation and make 3 projects:

  • Knotted Headband

  • Pillow

  • Drawstring bag

With the skills, techniques and confidence acquired, you’ll be able to make dozens of different projects on your own. This is also the foundation needed to move on to clothing, quilts, bags, etc.!

Learn how to:

  • Identify different fabric types

  • Thread + operate sewing machine

  • Mark + cut fabric

  • Doublefold hem

  • Finish a raw edge w/ zigzag

  • Fix a mistake

  • Encase elastic

  • Turn a perfectly pointy corner

  • Insert a drawstring

Skill Level: No experience necessary!

Class Size: 6 people

How Long: 4 classes @ 2 hours each
