LEARN TO SERGE
What is a serger? Chances are, the garment you’re wearing now was made using a serger. If you look inside, you’ll see loopy threads— because it’s made with a SERGER not a sewing machine!
Sweatshirts
T-shirts
Swimwear
Underwear
Sweat pants
Leggings
Hoodies…
…ALL begin with a serger!
If you want to work with stretch fabrics, this is the class for. you! You’ll learn how to thread the serger, troubleshoot weird problems, and make a cute boxy sweatshirt in 100% cotton french terry, all while conquering your fear and making the serger your best friend.
As always, ALL materials are included.
Learn how to:
thread and operate the serger (we use our fave - Janome Magnolia 7034D OR bring your own, just let us know)
adjust the tension, stitch length, and differential feed for different fabrics
cut, serge, and finish knit fabrics
sew knits on a regular sewing machine (all the little tricks!)
use ribbing and account for variable stretch
Skill Level: You should be comfortable on the sewing machine. Stretch fabrics are a whole different ballgame. We recommend making at least 10-12 woven, non-stretch projects before this class.

How Long: 8 hours total, done over 2, 3, or 4 classes
