LEARN TO SERGE

What is a serger? Chances are, the garment you’re wearing now was made using a serger. If you look inside, you’ll see loopy threads— because it’s made with a SERGER not a sewing machine!

  • Sweatshirts

  • T-shirts

  • Swimwear

  • Underwear

  • Sweat pants

  • Leggings

  • Hoodies…

…ALL begin with a serger!

If you want to work with stretch fabrics, this is the class for. you! You’ll learn how to thread the serger, troubleshoot weird problems, and make a cute boxy sweatshirt in 100% cotton french terry, all while conquering your fear and making the serger your best friend.

As always, ALL materials are included.

Learn how to:

  • thread and operate the serger (Janome Magnolia 7034D OR your own)

  • adjust the tension, stitch length, and differential feed for different fabrics

  • cut, serge, and finish knit fabrics

  • use ballpoint needles for knits on a straight stitch machine

  • cut, piece, baste, quilt, trim, and bind a quilt

Skill Level: You should be comfortable on the sewing machine. Stretch fabrics are a whole different ballgame. We recommend making at least a dozen woven, non-stretch projects before this class.
